More about Lorin Shields-Michel
Lorin Shields-Michel has been a professional writer for nearly 20 years, penning numerous magazine and e-zine articles as well as authoring several books. A native of the north East and a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, she moved to Southern California in the mid-1980s and began a career in advertising and public relations. Working both for world-wide agencies and then directly for clients, she built a name for herself in the beauty and healthcare industries before venturing completely out on her own to build what has become a prolific writing career.

Many of her articles have focused on health issues, especially as related to women. She has profiled a number of prominent women including Mary Bryant, a former model and now motivational speaker, and Dr. Christiane Northrup, a renowned author of such books as Mother-Daughter Wisdom. Shields-Michel has also co-authored educational books for Delmar Publishing.

Most recently, Shields-Michel has co-authored the memoir Shear Force: An Image-Maker’s Memoir for Allen Edwards, and is currently ghostwriting a book on living life authentically in an often inauthentic world. It is to be the first of a three-book series. With any project, she immerses herself in the subject, conducting necessary interviews and research to ensure honesty in her prose.

A writer writes is her unwritten motto, and so, in her spare time, she also writes fiction. The world of words flavors life, adding texture, creating new places in one’s imagination and giving voice to what might otherwise remain mute. This is the world of a writer, and one that Lorin Shields-Michel joyfully inhabits and calls home.

She continues to live in California with her husband and son.
