The fight to end child sexual abuse has probably no greater advocate than Dr. Pamela Pine, founder and CEO of Stop the Silence: Stop Child Sexual Abuse, Inc,. Stop the Silence has programs at the local, national and international levels that are unique in that they use activities that are of interest to the communities that they are working in to help enroll, involve and educate people about the abuse that is occurring in epidemic proportions around the world. Pamela has recently completed work on a symposium that is a national pilot training program for court judges and others that work in the area of law. This national program was funded by a generous grant and is supported by the Department of Justice. Stop the Silence is also hosting the Talk Around the Clock event on November 19, 2008 and is working in coordination with the Durban Institute of Technology in South Africa and The Global Lesson Foundation in Canada, to put on a global showcase of art, poetry and other media over a 24 hour period of time. Join Pam and Editor in Chief, Pat Lynch, as they discuss the current programs and the funding challenges that inhibit them from moving forward faster.

More About Dr. Pamela Pine
Pamela Pine, PhD, MPH, is the Founder and CEO of Stop the Silence: Stop Child Sexual Abuse, Inc., which focuses on the comprehensive prevention and mitigation of child sexual abuse (CSA): support for services, advocacy, training of service providers, community education and outreach, policy development, research/evaluation, and other prevention measures. For over 30 years, Dr. Pine has been designing, managing, implementing, and providing technical assistance to a wide range of local, national, and international health programming (e.g., training; community outreach and education; community mobilization; media outreach, advocacy; social marketing; policy development) focused on enhancing the lives of the poor and otherwise underserved groups. She has worked on various health, community development, and information, education and communication (IEC) programs (e.g., reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, leprosy, immunization, nutrition, maternal/child health) throughout the world (e.g., Albania, Egypt, India, Philippines, Turkey, United States, Yemen, Zambia, Zaire). Her background includes work with children with special needs, people with TB, leprosy, HIV/AIDS, abused children; and battered, poor, and incarcerated women. Dr. Pine committed herself to working comprehensively on CSA over eight years ago having learned about the extent and severity of the problem and its impact. She incorporated Stop the Silence as a charitable, non-profit agency (501-c-3) in 2004 and, since that time, Stop the Silence has been providing programming on all the fronts identified as necessary to help comprehensively prevent and mitigate child sexual abuse.
