Since last week’s MusicMonday
feature, WomensRadio has been to Austin, TX and back for SXSW 2010, which, to say the least, has left us with an afterglow
that will probably last well into the month of April. Just like last year, we’re *more than* overjoyed
to bring you A TON of special treats which we snuck into our luggage and
brought back home with us … just for your listening enjoyment! Read on for promos, birthday’s, video + more!
If you're on Twitter, you probably are already hip to the
use of hash tags (#) to identify topics and trends ... and you probably see the
same ones every Monday, "#MusicMonday", "#musicmonday"
and "#MM". These hash tags facilitate worldwide recommendations/promos/plugs/playlists/reviews/concerts/gear
and MUCH more throughout Twitter, and now the entire web!
Here at WomensRadio, we use these networks to give an added boost to the
world's finest Independent Female (and Male) Musicians submitting to our
studios. Here are a couple of submissions we picked up early Monday

Week In Review: While
we were in Austin there wasn’t much time to be publishing a ton of new content,
but we did make sure to film over a dozen official showcases, a bunch of SXSW
panels, several impromptu street performances and write a blog a day for the
events we *did not* get to see (Parts I, II, III & IV)! Plus, we stumbled upon an RSS Feed that gives
you access to FREE MP3 Downloads from SXSW showcasing bands (HERE)!
Celebrating
birthdays this week are GRAMMY Award-winning American singer-songwriter, Chaka
Kahn (born Yvette Marie Stevens; March 23, 1953), American singer,
songwriter and pianist, Aretha (Louise) Franklin (born March 25, 1942), American
singer and actress, Diana Ross (born March 26, 1944), the late, great, American
jazz singer, Sarah Lois Vaughan (March 27, 1924 – April 3, 1990), and American
singer, songwriter, record producer and actress, Mariah Carey (born March 27,
1970).
Here’s an EXCLUSIVE SXSW 2010 performance by none other than
long-time WomensRadio favorite, Alyson Greenfield, performing her cover of “Gangsta’s
Paradise” (Coolio) on the corner of 6th St. & San Jacinto in
Austin, TX on Wednesday, March 17th during SXSW 2010 (and yes, that
is a glockenspiel):
