Jay J. Johnson-Castro’s investigation into the imprisonment of mothers in 8 x 12 prison cells with innocent babies and children lead him to many shocking discoveries. One was that there was nothing that prevented this activity or gave a foundation from which our government could be challenged.

In 91989 the United Nations convened a Convention of the Right of the Child. In the past twenty years, the U. S. has not ratified those rights. We stand alone with the failed country of Somalia as the only two countries of the General Assembly of the U.N. Nations who has not ratified those right.

The T. Don Hutto Detention Center outside of Austin, Texas kept women and children from over 50 countries behind bars because they sought asylum in the United States.

There were two individuals per cell and so children could be separated from their mother. They were kept in lock-up 23 hours a day, had no medical care, no exercise, no education, and were overseen by armed guards, at a cost to taxpayers of 񙦘 per month per person.

This facility was heralded as the prototype for what private prison companies would open across our country.

The U.N. Treaty covers 54 different areas of life including:

  • Freedom from discrimination
  • Right to be with parents of legal guardian
  • Right to education
  • Right to freedom of speech
  • Freedom from exploitation

67 U.S. Senators are needed for the treaty to be approved.

Women of this country play a powerful role in life and Jay asks them to exercise that power in behalf the children.
